What is a Monotechnic?
A Monotechnic is an educational institution where a single specific technical course is taught. Monotechnic is not a worldwide know word and cannot be found in a dictionary, you can only find this word to be used in Nigerian education most from NBTE.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) is the major accreditation and regulatory body that enforces uniform standards and sets the admissions capacity of every monotechnic in Nigeria.
What is the difference between Polytechnic and Monotechnic?
The difference between Monotechnics and Polytechnics is that Monotechnic is a higher education technical college, While Polytechnic is a multiple discipline technical college that provides higher technical education and training.
As of 2021, there are 36 accredited Monotechnics in Nigeria. 24 Federal, 3 states, and 9 privately owned monotechnics in Nigeria. These institutions award mostly National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in their courses and a few cases, Advanced Diploma Programs

The Monotechnics listed above is the accredited one by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). You need to be aware that many Monotechnic and polytechnic currently operating in Nigeria are not accredited.
